Grants to Iowa nonprofit organizations, schools, churches, and fire departments for projects that enhance the quality of life for residents in eligible regions. Focus areas include environment and animals, human services, health, education, public and society benefit, arts, culture, and humanities. Eligible projects are those that benefit residents of Clarke County.

The primary focus of the Foundation's granting is the following:

  • Arts/Culture/Humanities: Museums, historic preservation, etc.
  • Education: School (all ages), adult learning programs
  • Environment/Animals: Environmental protection, conservation, beautification, animal-related issues
  • Health: General, rehabilitative, mental, etc.
  • Human Services: Public protection/safety, recreation, youth development, general human services
  • Public/Society Benefit: Community improvement development, volunteerism, capacity building, etc.
  • Other: Use category only if the grant cannot be categorized in one of the above ways

Funding Priorities

  • Number of people impacted by a project 
  • Permanency of project
  • Projects that have collaboration with other entities and/or other financial support
  • Positive impact to County

Term of Contract:

Grant projects must be completed within the fiscal year following the awarding of the grant.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The Grant Award Program is open to organizations holding a proper IRS Section 501(c)(3) designation or equivalent tax-exempt status, such as a school, church or fire department.

If your organization is not a 501(c)3 entity or holds an equivalent tax-exempt status, you must submit a Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement with your application to be considered for a grant award.
