Grants to USA, Canada, and International computer scientists in industry or in academia to participate in a conference offered by the Funding Source. Funding is intended to cover conference attendance costs for full-time computer scientists who identify as female or who are members of groups underrepresented in tech, and who wish to attend USENIX conferences and workshops.

The Engima Conference on Security and Privacy Ideas that Matter will take place virtually in February 2021. Successful Diversity Grant applicants will receive funds to defray the expense of conference attendance, as well as complimentary registration for a friend.

Number of Grants:

The number of grants depends on the event and the amount of financial support--from corporate sponsorship and other sources--received for that purpose.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

All computer scientists from academia or industry who identify as female or who are members of groups underrepresented in tech are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility:
- Identify as a female or a member of another underrepresented group in tech
- Work in or study computer science or related field
- Attend the three full days of the main Conference Program
- Agree to be contacted by USENIX and diversity grants program sponsors about future events and opportunities

Post-docs are welcome to apply for Diversity Grants.

Pre-Application Information:

The application deadline is Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at 11:59 pm Pacific Time. Notifications of awards will be sent via email prior to the first day of the conference.

Do not register for the conference--even if you are an author or a presenter--until you are notified about your grant. If you receive a grant, you will receive detailed registration instructions.

Applicants can be awarded only one grant each calendar year. Those who qualify are welcome to apply for both a Student Grant and a Diversity Grant for the same conference, though only one grant will be awarded.

If you are traveling to the conference from outside the U.S.A., see detailed advice from the National Academies about visiting the United States.
