Grant of up to $20,000 to an Iowa nonprofit organization or governmental unit in eligible regions to improve the local quality of life. Applicants must attend an information session and submit a letter of intent prior to submitting a full proposal. Proposals must align with one of the following priorities: housing, workforce, or quality of life. Funding is intended to support an organization’s project that will have a lasting impact on how the citizens of Pocahontas County live, work, learn or play.

High Impact Grant Applications:

  • Addresses a significant County issue which impacts many County residents
  • Align with the Pocahontas County Visionary Committee goals
  • Encourages cooperation, creates efficiencies and reduces duplication of services
  • Demonstrates quality, vision, collaboration and good management
  • Provides a plan for sustainability beyond the funding period

Pocahontas County Visioning Committee Priorities

  • Quality of Life
    • Expand recreational opportunities (trails, hiking, biking, etc.)
    • Attract new residents and families
    • Protect natural amenities (parks, lakes, etc.)
  • Housing
    • Increase housing variety/quality
  • Workforce

    • Attract new businesses that provide local jobs
    • Enhance skillset of current workforce

Number of Grants:

The 2022 Pocahontas County Foundation High Impact Grant will provide funding to an organization’s project that will have a lasting impact on how the citizens of Pocahontas County live, work, learn or play.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The 2022 Pocahontas County Foundation High Impact Grant will provide up to 20% of annual granting amount ($20,000 for 2022).

Term of Contract:

Project must be completed in one year or 2022.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Funding is available to non-profit, I.R.S. 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations, 170(b) units of government organizations or charitable organizations without the above designations through a qualified fiscal sponsor. It is preferred that only one proposal is submitted per organization.

October 6, 2021 - Mandatory informational meeting at 6:30 pm at the County Conservation

Application deadline: Postmarked by Tuesday, November 17, 2021 and delivered by Friday, November 19, 2021

- September 10, 2021 - Grant guidelines released
- October 6, 2021 - Mandatory Information Meeting - 6:30 pm at the Pocahontas County Conservation Office
- October 13, 2021 - Letters of intent due
- October 20, 2021 - Invitation to Apply for High Impact Grant Sent via email
- November 19, 2021 - Application due
- December 31, 2021 - Grant award announcement

You will receive a confirmation email acknowledging receipt of the letter of intent. If you do not receive an email acknowledging receipt, you must follow up with a phone call by October 13th at 4:00 p.m.
