Grant Description
Grants of up to $50,000 to Nebraska and Iowa nonprofit organizations and government agencies to address the basic needs of vulnerable residents in eligible locations. Focus areas include health, shelter, food, clothing, and personal care items. Grant applications will be considered for general operations or program support that directly provides assistance through basic needs supports. Applicant organizations or services should be located in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan area.

The Suzanne & Walter Scott Foundation recognizes that for people and places to truly be healthy, the basic needs of individuals must first be met. The Foundation values the work of health and human service agencies that care for the community’s most vulnerable members and strive to assist in times of high demand and financial uncertainty.

For this reason, the Foundation has introduced a new competitive grants program that provides support to nonprofit organizations working directly in the areas of food, personal care items, shelter and health. Funding priority will be given to organizations that demonstrate creativity, collaboration, impact and sustainability.

Grant applications will be considered for general operations or program support that directly provides assistance through basic needs supports.

  • Food – meals, food and food production support
  • Clothing/Personal Care items
  • Shelter – emergency shelter, temporary or permanent supportive housing, critical repairs/updates to existing owner-occupied properties
  • Health – access and charitable care for low to moderate income households
